Senior Traffic

Senior Traffic & ITS Engineer / Project Manager role at Jacobs. This position leads and grows the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Engineering practice across the New York and New Jersey region. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical background, proven project management experience, and established relationships with key regional transportation agencies.

$135,000.00/yr - $215,000.00/yr

Lead and manage traffic and ITS projects from planning and design through delivery. Serve as a primary client contact for agencies such as NYSDOT, NJDOT, and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ). Develop and execute strategies to expand the firms NY/NJ traffic and ITS portfolio, identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships. Provide technical oversight and mentorship to a growing team of traffic and ITS engineers, fostering professional development and high-quality project delivery. Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource planning to ensure successful outcomes. Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable traffic and ITS solutions.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY or NJ (dual licensure preferred).
• Substantial professional experience in traffic engineering and/or intelligent transportation systems (ITS).
• Demonstrated experience managing projects for NYSDOT, NJDOT, and/or PANYNJ.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior staff.
• Strong understanding of regional transportation systems, traffic analysis tools, and ITS technologies.
• Excellent communication, client management, and business development skills.
