Ophthalmic Back Office Medical Assistant

Job Description:
The Tayani Institute is looking for a highly motivated and knowledgeable Ophthalmic Back Office Medical Assistant to join our expanding practice. We offer a wide range of services in ophthalmology, optometry, optical, and plastic surgery, creating a dynamic and stimulating work environment.
This position involves traveling to various locations including Santa Ana, Laguna Hills, and San Clemente, providing you with diverse experiences within our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Back Office Medical Tech
- Ensure that physicians have all required equipment and supplies for efficient clinic operations.
- Maintain organization in exam rooms before and after sessions.
- Manage eye drop samples and interact with representatives under the supervision of the Back Office Supervisor.
- Address patient inquiries both in-person and over the phone.
- Facilitate prescription refills.
- Conduct essential testing including Visual Fields, OCT, Fundus Photos, Pachymetry, and Topography.
- Calibrate equipment as per manufacturer guidelines on a scheduled basis.
- Administer Ilux treatments for dry eye care.
- Document thoroughly and effectively using NextGen.
- Assist patients in accessing their information via the Patient Portal.
- Travel to satellite offices as needed.
- Organize and manage patient photos within NextGen.
- Train new hires and students on procedures and office protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of back office equipment.
Administrative Functions:
- Assist with administrative tasks as required.
- Engage in front office and patient scheduling duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of back office experience in ophthalmology preferred.
- COA, COT, or COMT certification is highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office; NextGen experience is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Leadership experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Compensation: $18 - $27 per hour.
