Summary:
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of Curriculum, Outreach, Resources, and Effectiveness (CORE) provides comprehensive support by overseeing institutional accreditation, assessment, and compliance with state, federal, and local licensure requirements, and by overseeing revenue-producing units including Gallaudet Opportunities for Advancement and Learning, Charge Ahead Dual Enrollment, and our American Sign Language evaluation programs.

Job Description:
  • Oversees Institutional Accreditation, Assessment, and State and Local Licensure to ensure the institution's alignment with all applicable standards and requirements.
  • Works with Academic Affairs units as assigned to develop strategic plans, create policies, and collaborates with other divisions to analyze and develop recommendations in response to evolving issues.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of academic MOUs and ensures collaboration with other divisions as well as the Office of General Counsel.
  • Collaborates with administrators, faculty, and the Executive Team to ensure institutional compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.
  • Supervises staff; provides on-going feedback to all employees including student workers; completes the annual performance evaluations for each regular status and extended temporary staff; set goals and expectations for each staff; resolves workplace conflicts in a timely manner and seeks support from supervisor, Human Resources, or Office of Equal Opportunity Program, if needed; promotes a safe and healthy work environment; and ensures professional development opportunities are provided to each regular status and extended temporary staff.
  • Serves as a member of the University Provost's Academic Affairs Senior Administrators and as the University's Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
  • Oversees articulation agreements with institutions of higher education and the development of program pathways.
  • Keeps track of academic policy development and implementation.
  • Serves on University-wide Committees such as those concerning accreditation and assessment.
  • Oversees units including Institutional Effectiveness and Certification (IEC), Gallaudet Opportunities for Advancement and Learning, Charge Ahead Dual Enrollment (CADE), non-credit bearing courses in ASL Connect, and international risk management and compliance programs.
  • In consultation with the Provost and the Dean of the Faculty, develops and coordinates academic and administrative program reviews; provides orientation and support to learning centers and departments in the review process; and delivers monitoring reports to the Provost.
  • Provides leadership in promoting a culture of assessment within all units across Academic Affairs, including Academic Program Reviews (APR).
  • Leads the New Program Review (NPR) process to support innovation and alignment with the Gallaudet Promise; and meets with those interested in setting up new programs and explains the process.
  • Serves as the MSCHE Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO); directs institutional accreditation efforts necessary to meet the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) standards; and maintains regular contact with the MSCHE vice president assigned as the institution's liaison and responds promptly when contacted by the Commission.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of the Faculty, Office of Institutional Research, and Office of Strategic Planning to ensure the systematic collection and assessment of data necessary to document compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Manages the planning and preparation of accreditation-related documents, including the eight-year Self-Study Report, the Annual Institutional Update, Substantive Change requests, progress reports, and monitoring reports.
  • Collaborates with the Dean of the Faculty, School Directors, and program coordinators to pursue initial accreditation and ensure the ongoing accreditation of individual programs through the relevant programmatic accrediting organizations.
  • Oversees the growth and development of Gallaudet Opportunities for Advancement and Learning.
  • Serves as the Gallaudet University Certification Officer.
  • Ensures compliance with the U.S. Department of Education Program Integrity Regulations, including State Authorization, Gainful Employment, and Credit Hour Compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with NC-SARA and C-RAC regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to belonging in the workplace and participates in activities and workshops to foster continuous learning.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter under Title IX; and commits to completing Title IX training and other compliance requirements on an annual basis.
  • Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.
  • Performs related and other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctoral degree.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience with institutional accreditation, assessment and compliance, or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices of outcome assessment to monitor institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Strong familiarity with higher education curriculum, policies and procedures.
  • Strong ability to work independently and efficiently to prioritize and effectively manage multiple responsibilities under pressure and/or time constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents and groups.
