Senior Siemens Controls Engineer
Direct Hire or Contract | On-site - Minneapolis, MN | $140k – $160k
Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Siemens Controls Engineer to lead programming, debugging, and commissioning of complex automated processing equipment. This is a hands-on, on-site position with immediate impact on bringing partially completed machines to stable, production-ready operation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Siemens S7-1500 / TIA Portal programs and WinCC HMIs
- Integrate PLCs, HMIs, drives, and field devices via PROFINET/PROFIBUS and other industrial networks
- Completing and stabilizing controls on existing equipment (VFD checkout, I/O verification, safety validation, sequence debugging)
- Support FAT, SAT, and customer-site commissioning (primarily domestic; some international travel possible)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 7–10+ years of experience in industrial controls for custom machinery
- Strong background in Siemens TIA Portal, S7-1500, and WinCC
- Experience with VFDs, motion control, and PID processes
- Demonstrated ability to take partially written code to fully commissioned equipment under deadlines
- Independent, self-directed, and able to own project outcomes
- Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical colleagues
