The Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer position is based out of our Byron Clean Energy facility in Byron, IL.

Primary Purpose of Position

In this role, you will engage in advanced engineering problem-solving to support nuclear plant operations. As a technical decision-maker, you will leverage your superior knowledge within your functional discipline, as well as your understanding of relevant industry codes and regulations, to ensure effective operational support.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

• Lead advanced engineering and technical tasks aimed at enhancing nuclear plant operations.
• Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses to promote technical projects.
• Provide in-depth technical expertise to create, manage, and implement engineering activities that enhance plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work in adherence to standard design criteria, practices, and codes.
• Deliver expert consultation and actively participate in identifying and resolving equipment and system challenges.
• Manage engineering tasks related to ongoing issues while continually recommending improvements in equipment and methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Support plant design modifications, testing, and troubleshooting efforts.
• Ensure engineering products align with safety analyses, industry codes, and regulatory commitments.
• Develop and oversee functional supervisory activities, including planning, personnel management, and budget accountability within an engineering context.
• Carry out additional assignments as directed by management, including emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support during outage activities beyond the engineering department.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear) coupled with 10 years of engineering experience.
• Proven technical leadership experience (e.g., Duty team lead, inspection lead) demonstrating strong teamwork and leadership attributes.
• Ability to maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements, as necessary, with a favorable medical examination and/or testing based on position duties.
• Comply with additional requirements as specified in ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 Standard regarding personnel qualification for nuclear power plants.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License.
