Job Summary

The Shift Leader (SL) is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the day-to-day store operations. The SL is a key partner in meeting performance and profit goals. In partnership with the Store Manager, the SL is responsible for customer and employee satisfaction, brand standards, and store profitability. The SL ensures exceptional customer experiences and supports our vision of being "Fast, Fresh & Friendly".

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards around food quality, customer service, food safety, and store cleanliness by empowering store employees.
  • Supervise daily tasks of all store employees.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including greeting, assisting, suggestive selling, and thanking customers.
  • Respond to customer complaints and inquiries, leading by example.
  • Ensure adherence to Food Service Program procedures and standards, overseeing daily operations and sanitation.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and developing store employees.
  • Motivate and encourage Customer Service Representatives.
  • Lead by example to ensure all daily tasks are completed; delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized store with attractive displays, correct pricing, and safety standards.
  • Complete daily paperwork and computer entries timely.
  • Maintain the shift duty notebook accurately.
  • Follow safety, security, and retail policies and procedures.
  • Monitor competition, including fuel and inside sales.
  • Review and influence profit and loss statements.
  • Execute company strategies for growth.
  • Plan and coordinate work schedules and daily assignments.
  • Handle special assignments and projects as needed.
  • Support Store Manager/District Manager as required.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of store training.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Strong food service experience, preferably managerial.
  • ServSafe certification preferred or to be completed within 2 months of hire.
  • Focus on customer service and teamwork.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ethical, honest, trustworthy, respectful, compassionate, supportive, and patient.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, and independently as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Retail environment with occasional exposure to dust, extreme temperatures, and cleaning products.
  • Majority of shift spent standing, with frequent bending and lifting.
  • May assist with store operations in inclement weather.
