Job Description

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on various equipment such as conveyors, pumps, mixers, cranes, and lighting systems. Your role will also involve welding, fabrication, and interpreting blueprints. You will utilize cutting tools and apply your mechanical and technical understanding to ensure the smooth operation of machinery. Must be open to working all 3 shifts, will work a rotating schedule after training on 1st shift which is an 8 week rotation, 6 weeks on 1st shift, 1 week on 2nd shift, and 1 week on 3rd shift then starting over again.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps, mixers, and overhead cranes.

• Conduct welding and fabrication tasks.

• Read and interpret blueprints for equipment maintenance.

• Utilize cutting torch and plasma cutter effectively.

• Apply mechanical fundamentals including mechanics, lubrication, and power transmission.

• Perform hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting.

• Work on electrical troubleshooting, wiring, and repairs.

• Align motors and pumps and install welded, threaded, and PVC piping.

• Operate basic shop equipment such as drill presses, stationary band saws, and pedestal grinders.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience as a mechanic in an industrial manufacturing setting.

• Ability to work from blueprints.

• Arc welding experience.

• Experience with motor/pump alignment and piping installation.

• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Knowledge of rotary valves and dust collector systems.

• Understanding of rigging principles and equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of East Chicago, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $63107.20 - $69118.40/yr.
