Lead Cloud Architect - Distributed Database Solutions
Oracle Database is at the forefront of meeting mission-critical needs with a secure, distributed data platform that supports both structured and unstructured data on a global scale.
In this role, you will craft architectural patterns that enable customers to develop applications tailored for high volume, rapid data flows, and diverse data environments. Your designs will ensure compliance with data sovereignty and residency requirements, keeping critical data within designated geographic boundaries.
As a pivotal member of our product development team, you will engage with customer needs and market trends, converting them into detailed specifications that drive system design and architecture. You will guide a team of developers to deliver cutting-edge services, participating actively in the evolution of Oracle's leading database products.
This is an incredible opportunity to be instrumental in shaping innovative features for Oracle's flagship Database. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in cloud architecture, particularly with cloud platform products and services.
You will lead cross-functional teamwork to develop outstanding capabilities, collaborating with Product Management, Development, QA, Documentation, and Support teams. You may also work directly with customers and partake in marketing and sales initiatives.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong architecture skills in software products, a keen ability to derive insights from customer requirements, and a proven track record in creating impactful products and features.
To succeed in this role, you must excel in dynamic environments, navigate ambiguity, and prioritize effectively. You’ll need to combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, maintain a customer-centric approach, possess intellectual curiosity, and embrace an agile development mindset.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Design architectural frameworks for cloud-native services utilizing Hyperscale Distributed Databases.
- Translate market and customer needs into defining features, including constructs, APIs, KPIs, and essential UI components.
- Inform control plane architecture to support critical use cases including availability, scalability, security, and compliance.
- Create detailed technical specifications and develop prototypes to guide implementation.
- Direct the product development team in applying architectural designs.
- Collaborate with PM, QA, and other teams for continuous service improvement.
- Engage in key customer events and market initiatives.
- Define and analyze customer experience metrics to inform stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks that might impact project timelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in large-scale cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with various cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Experience with Massively Distributed Parallel Processing systems.
- Strong understanding of the data platform landscape and competitive trends.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Capable of strategic and tactical thinking in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Internet-scale applications.
- 10+ years of hands-on product development experience for customer-facing data solutions.
- Proficiency in both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Big Data platforms handling structured and unstructured data.
- Experience in designing and launching cloud-based products.

Compensation information for the specified locations:
US: Hiring Range in USD from: $136,600 to $338,500 per annum. Potential for bonuses, equity, and deferred compensation included.
