LEGAL ASSISTANT

- Conduct preliminary screenings for individuals seeking immigration services, schedule client appointments, and maintain an accurate, up-to-date office calendar.
- Welcome visitors, check in applicants, and ensure a positive and organized front-office experience.
- Support casework by managing incoming calls, returning client calls/emails, drafting correspondence, relaying messages to case handlers, and preparing client documents.
- Utilize telephonic interpreter services as needed and provide Spanish-English interpretation for staff members when required.
- Assist with the creation and entry of new cases in JALA Legal Server and support the organization and closing of case files.
- Perform general administrative tasks including data entry, copying, filing, scanning, and other office support functions.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and coordinate deliveries to ensure timely distribution.
- Carry out additional duties or special projects as assigned by the Director.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is required.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office 365 and general office technology.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with significant client contact and frequent multitasking.
- Experience handling high-volume phone calls and managing challenging or fast-moving situations professionally.
- Prior experience in immigration law is highly preferred but not mandatory.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a receptionist, administrative assistant, guest services, or similar client-facing role is preferred.
