Optometrist or Ophthalmologist - Veteran Disability Assessments
Join our dedicated team to make a difference for U.S. Veterans We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to conduct essential medical assessments as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This is a fulfilling non-treating role where you will perform comprehensive eye examinations to support veterans without the responsibilities of treatment or prescription.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-person disability assessments for U.S. Veterans.
- Review and analyze electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
- Perform thorough eye exams, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
- Accurately document findings and complete required VA forms.
Note: This position does not involve treatment or medication prescriptions. Disability determinations are made solely by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Position Details:
- Schedule: Part-Time, 3-4 days/week
- Location: In-person role
- Caseload: Average of 4-6 Veterans per day
- Equipment Provided: Computer and all necessary documentation tools
What We're Looking For:
- A passionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist committed to serving veterans.
- Strong analytical skills for reviewing medical records and assessment data.
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with electronic documentation and web-based platforms.
- A professional and empathetic approach while interacting with Veterans.
Requirements:
- Active & unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license.
- Proficient in Visual Field Testing (VFT).
- Comfortable using technology for record review and documentation.
