Cyber Security Engineer

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer for a Direct Hire opportunity with one of our clients sitting REMOTE. We are looking for someonewho is motivated to become an integral part of a mission driven organizationThis candidate will take part in developing and optimizing cyber security solutions, as well as safeguarding the company and customers' critical assets. This is a highly collaborative role working across multiple security focused business units ensuring that the organization's and customers' critical assets are safeguarded. Ideal candidates will have a strong background working in a software development environment.

Required Skills of the Cyber Security Engineer:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience/certifications)
  • 4+ years in a cybersecurity engineering role supporting software, DevOps, and cloud teams.
  • Experience securing cloud-based applications (AWS, GCP, DigitalOcean).
  • Strong knowledge of modern network architectures supporting remote workforces.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools: EDR, SIEM, CASB, DLP, IDS/IPS, SWG.
  • Proficiency with modern data and engineering stacks (e.g., Python, Snowflake, Kafka, Git, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, PHP, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow, Cloudflare, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of industry security frameworks and controls (NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, MITRE).
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Experience securing SaaS, data platforms, and ecommerce environments.
  • Security certifications: CISSP, CCSP, CASP+, Security+, CEH.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Cyber Security Engineer:
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve cloud-first, layered security architectures.
  • Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents, alerts, and breaches.
  • Embed security and data governance best practices into the SDLC in partnership with Engineering, Data, and IT teams.
  • Develop and enforce security controls aligned with NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and related frameworks.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and drive remediation efforts.
  • Assess internal and vendor security posture; support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Translate risk and security assessments into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Research and recommend emerging security tools and best practices.
