Schedule Details:
Amazing opportunity to join our outstanding OR team. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is Wisconsin's largest hospital, known for innovative patient care and a commitment to excellence.

Schedule/Hours:
Full-time, evening shift, with either 8 or 10-hour shifts. Monday to Friday with majority on-call commitments typically overnight, including 1 or 2 weekend call slots in an 8-week schedule. On-call availability requires arriving within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care while using aseptic surgical techniques.
• Assist with all types of surgical procedures while maintaining a basic knowledge of these procedures.
• Ensure the operating room is disinfected and safe, setting up and returning equipment as needed.
• Function as a Second Assistant as necessary.
• Notify staff about equipment or supply issues.
• Transport patients and equipment.
• Maintain specialty carts, ensuring instruments are sterile and in working condition.
• Positively interact with patients while using proper lifting and transferring techniques.
• Demonstrate the ability to provide care specific to the age of patients served.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 6 months.

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.

Experience Required:

• No prior experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Commitment to annual educational requirements for certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist, up to 20 lbs overhead.
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform sliding transfers of 150 lbs with assistance.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood, and body fluids.
• Functional sight and hearing needed for effective job performance.
• Required to wear protective gear such as masks and gloves.
• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist during the shift.
• Capable of operating all essential equipment for the role.
