Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Specialist

SLUCare Physician Group is looking for a dedicated full-time pediatric cardiac critical care physician to join our esteemed Department of Pediatrics, specifically within the Division of Critical Care Medicine. This role will involve providing essential clinical coverage in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Sedation Service at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.

To be eligible, candidates should possess a minimum of three years of post-fellowship experience or relevant cardiac expertise. Our Pediatric Critical Care Division comprises 10 faculty members and 5 acute care pediatric nurse practitioners, delivering critical care across a 21-bed mixed medical/surgical/cardiac PICU with approximately 1,000 annual admissions. Our nationally-ranked CT Surgery and Cardiology program performs around 200 index surgeries each year and features a robust ECMO program alongside a strong heart failure and transplant initiative, including all VAD capabilities.

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital stands as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and is recognized as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We proudly support the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Center of Excellence at the Gold Level. The pediatric emergency department is the highest-volume in the region, accompanied by a dedicated pediatric and neonatal critical care transport service. Our hospital consistently ranks highly in pediatric subspecialties according to U.S. News and World Report.

Within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care, we also offer procedural sedation services to nearly 1,800 children annually. Faculty members are actively involved in research, quality improvement initiatives, and medical education for students, residents, and pediatric critical care fellows.

1. Medical doctorate or equivalent
2. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
3. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology or completion of a 4th year specialized training in Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
4. Eligibility for permanent medical licensure in the State of Missouri
5. Experience caring for complex and critically ill infants, children, and adolescents within the last five years
