Summary
CHS Inc. is seeking a results-driven and safety-focused Plant Electrical Manager to lead electrical reliability, automation, and electrical efforts at our Myrtle Grove, LA grain terminal . This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the terminal's electrical systems and PLC-based automation infrastructure.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Maintenance and Reliability, the Manager, Electrical will lead a team of technicians and collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, operations, and vendors to improve uptime, reduce electrical failures, and implement best practices in asset management and controls integration.
Responsibilities

Oversee all electrical systems and PLC automation infrastructure related to grain handling, storage, and shipping operations.

Lead and mentor a team of electrical technicians; manage external contractors as needed.

Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), VFDs, motor controls, scale systems, and instrumentation.

Lead electrical reliability initiatives including asset condition monitoring, preventive/predictive maintenance, and spare parts strategies.

Support and lead the electrical scope of capital projects, ensuring alignment with company standards and safety codes.

Maintain and improve system documentation including wiring diagrams, PLC logic, control panel layouts, and SOPs.

Champion electrical safety programs including NFPA 70E compliance and arc flash assessments.

Perform or facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment and automation failures, and implement corrective actions.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for electrical reliability.

Participate in or lead audits, inspections, and risk assessments related to electrical infrastructure.

Collaborate with vendors, engineering, and corporate maintenance leadership to support long-term electrical and automation strategies.

Provide 24/7 on-call support for urgent electrical or automation issues.
Minimum Qualifications (required)

High School diploma or GED
-
4+ years of experience in Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance and/or Electrical Maintenance
-
Prior leadership experience with progressively advancing level of leadership responsibilities
Additional Qualifications
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field.
-
Licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician.
-
Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
-
Experience with agricultural terminals or grain processing facilities.
-
Familiarity with asset management practices (Uptime Elements) and CMMS systems such as SAP or Maximo.

Skilled in Lean principles, RCA techniques, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).

Strong hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), SCADA, HMIs, and VFDs.

Knowledge of industrial power distribution, motor control circuits, and hazardous area classifications (C1D1, C1D2).

Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NEC, OSHA, and electrical safety standards.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including grain elevators, control rooms, catwalks, and confined spaces.

Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks while using proper PPE.

Must be able to obtain TWIC card

Available for on-call support and occasional travel (up to 30%).

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
