Job Description

The Customer Reliability Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing customer partnerships by working closely at customer facilities. This position involves conducting independent evaluations of seals and equipment, making informed recommendations under the guidance of the account manager and/or regional engineer. You will also lead a team of customer reliability personnel.

  • Proactively assess customer applications and propose specific strategies for improving Mean Time Between Repairs (MTBR), with oversight from the account manager or regional engineer. Analyze customer applications and submit tailored recommendations for improvement through the John Crane Application Data Information Sheet for approval. Direct the installation and commissioning of mechanical seals and their auxiliary systems.
  • Gather and evaluate customer data while collaborating with the account manager and/or regional engineer. Report the results of the seal program using John Crane's advanced reliability management software, such as ServiceMax.
  • Conduct equipment surveys and maintain comprehensive records. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with customers, team members, and vendors, providing expert counseling, technical assistance, and recommendations. Prepare and deliver technical presentations as needed, with oversight from the account manager or regional engineer.
  • Facilitate training sessions for maintenance and operations personnel as required. Support the customer in the Management of Change process. Collect new equipment data sheets from project engineers for review by the account manager and/or regional engineer.

The candidate must be willing to travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical seals, rotating equipment, and fundamental engineering principles is essential, alongside proficiency in PC and software applications.
  • Active involvement in continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, SMED, and Lean activities or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of personal computers, MS Office, and machining practices.
