Overview

Join our team as a Blood Collection Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in the collection of blood from donors. You will perform phlebotomy and collection procedures in compliance with our organization's policies, FDA regulations, and AABB standards. We are looking for individuals dedicated to providing exceptional service while ensuring the safety and comfort of our donors.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain medical histories and vital signs from donors and patients.
  • Execute phlebotomy procedures and collect blood or blood components.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and maintain professionalism towards all customers.
  • Support the recruitment of potential apheresis and bone marrow donors.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following qualifications:

Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: None required.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills for timely task completion.
  • Effective in following oral and written instructions.
  • Able to communicate effectively before groups of customers or coworkers.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Proficient in speaking, writing, reading, and understanding English.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Requirements:

Individuals must be able to meet the physical requirements including lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Tasks may involve climbing, kneeling, walking, standing, and using phlebotomy equipment.

Environmental Requirements:

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings with potential exposure to adverse conditions such as inclement weather and pathogenic substances. This role may expose employees to blood-borne pathogens, and you will work in close quarters on mobile unit buses where vibration and motion are common. The noise level is typically moderate.
