Position Summary: As a Medical Assistant, you will support healthcare providers in various medical office settings, performing both administrative and clinical tasks. Your attention to detail, professional etiquette, and exceptional customer service skills are essential to our mission of delivering quality care.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, or Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant, or 5+ years of experience in lieu of certification.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Nurse Assistant or Certified Nurse Assistant with at least 1 year of experience.

Preferred Experience: Experience in a medical facility is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of safety hazards and ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Physical capability to lift moderate weights and perform various physical tasks as necessary.
  • Reliable transportation with flexibility to float to other offices as required.
  • Proficient in computer and keyboarding skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: This list is not exhaustive and duties may change as needed)

  1. Greet and prepare patients for examinations in accordance with office protocol.
  2. Maintain accurate patient charts and ensure all information is current.
  3. Document sample medications dispensed in the medical record.
  4. Administer oversight of vaccine programs adhering to State guidelines.
  5. Ensure exam rooms are stocked and prepared for daily use.
  6. Manage inventory of medical supplies and coordinate reordering with the Office Coordinator/Practice Manager.
  7. Report and assist in the maintenance of medical equipment.
  8. Clean and sterilize equipment, preparing surgical trays as needed.
  9. Assist healthcare providers with office surgical procedures.
  10. Perform EKGs and Spirometry as instructed.
  11. Communicate lab results to patients and facilitate follow-up appointments.
  12. Handle prescription refill requests from pharmacies as per office protocol.
  13. Prepare specimens for testing and collect sterile urine specimens from patients.
  14. Conduct monthly checks on medications, ensuring proper disposal of expired items.
  15. Obtain necessary pre-certifications for tests and treatments.
  16. Schedule and manage referrals and external testing as directed.
  17. Maintain an organized and tidy work area.
  18. Document compliance with CLIA regulations.
  19. Engage in collaborative care team efforts within the Primary Care framework.
  20. Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
