The Cost & Operations Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and driving the reduction of operational costs across nursing home facilities. This role focuses on both labor (overtime, agency usage) and non-labor expenses (supplies, vendor contracts, utilities).
This is a high-impact, interpersonal data role. The successful candidate will not just find savings in a spreadsheet but will also work directly with facility leadership to implement changes, explain complex financial trends, and ensure long-term fiscal health.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Cost Analysis: Audit labor and non-labor expenses to identify variances, waste, and opportunities for cost containment.
- Data Mining: Sift through facility data to find "hidden nuggets" of information that lead to significant savings.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner with facility administrators to address overspending and develop actionable plans to bring costs in line with budgets.
- Performance Tracking: Establish KPIs and monitoring systems to ensure that cost-saving measures result in continued, sustainable progress.
- Strategic Communication: Translate complex financial data into digestible, persuasive insights for facility staff and executive leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Prior finance experience in healthcare, preferably long-term care strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency is required, specifically the ability to build and maintain complex spreadsheets using Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and conditional formatting to track facility trends.
- Capability to transform raw data into clear, visual dashboards or charts that allow facility leaders to see their progress at a glance.
- A high level of attention to detail to ensure that cost-saving recommendations are backed by airtight data and logical conclusions.
