Job Description

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Global Artisan Innovation Center in Warren on a full-time basis. This position also requires some light travel to PPO North and Pontiac Engineering Center.

The Role

As a Torque Process Engineer, you will manage and oversee all fastening process requirements related to torque. Your primary focus will be ensuring compliance with Process Control Plans (PCPs) and Tool & Equipment Bulletins (T&E), while driving continuous improvement and maintaining robust documentation.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Validate new tooling through User Acceptance Tests and ensure compliance with TEB 15-12.

  • Develop and maintain torque process strategies for launches.

  • Track KCDS code changes and manage tool records.

  • Oversee spare parts inventory and create purchase requests in eSAP.

  • Troubleshoot error-proofing issues and support quality teams with static torque routes.

  • Ensure torque controller programming aligns with APM and PCP requirements.

  • Monitor and improve torque processes per PCPs and T&E Bulletins.

  • Deliver training and maintain updated quality standards.

  • Manage static torque measurement processes and standardized work.

  • Perform correlation studies for torque issues and implement corrective strategies.

  • Review torque data daily and provide actionable insights.

  • Manage calibration schedules for torque tools and maintain PFMEAs in FIT database.

  • Complete annual reviews and oversee RPN reduction projects.

  • Utilize databases and monitoring systems to interpret data effectively.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across teams.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (technical degree preferred).

  • 3+ years of relevant experience (quality control, manufacturing, statistics); 5+ years preferred.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to interpret and manage large data sets.

  • Proven leadership and motivational skills.

  • Flexibility to work off-shift and overtime as needed.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Previous vehicle launch experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering.

  • Hands-on experience in torque coordination and management in manufacturing.

  • Deep understanding of torque standards, requirements, and validation processes.

  • Experience with KCDS codes, ToolsNet, and torque controllers.

  • Familiarity with Global Quality Requirements and error-proofing systems.

  • Proficiency with torque-related software and tools.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in torque process engineering or related fields.
