The Construction Trades Teacher is to teach assigned courses to include Construction Trades: Framing and Finishing, Construction Trades: General Carpentry, and Construction Trades Capstone. Teacher is to create a classroom environment for students to learn effectively. Teacher will follow Indiana State Standards for courses taught.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid teaching license (or be eligible for a teaching license) in Indiana in area of study required, Technology Education 5-12, CTE: Trade and Industrial: Building Trades 5-12, Workplace Specialist: Construction 9-12, Workplace Specialist: Building Trades 9-12, Workplace Specialist in related course approved for a CTE pathway. If eligible for the Workplace Specialist teaching license, successful construction trades work experience requires at least 4000 documented hours and the ability to obtain a Workplace Specialist License. This is completed in cooperation of the CTE Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach District-approved curriculum.
2. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
3. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or by conducting research.
4. Safe usage of the equipment in the lab and instructional equipment in the learning environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
5. Knowledge of construction careers, curriculum, and concepts within the field of construction.
6. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
7. Ability to organize and coordinate work.
8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS:
9. Works in school building environments.
10. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
11. Prepares for classes assigned.
12. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
13. Experience in Skyward Student Management and Canvas.
14. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups.
15. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals-established clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
16. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
17. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
18. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
19. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
20. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
21. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
22. Performs other related duties, as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school duties.
