Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctionalfacilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of theCommonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out themandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquireskills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Luther Luckett Correctional Complex is seeking candidates for a Human Resource Specialist Senior at theInstitution. This position provides professional level Human Resources work in the areas of Personnel andPayroll processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as Institutional Personnel liaison between Institution Staff and Central Office.
  • Assist Human Resource Administrator in processing Personnel Documents
  • Benefit Administration
  • Employee Relations
  • Conduct criminal records checks
  • Assists in developing HR procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, policies, andACA Standards.
  • Reviews, compiles and prepares reports.
  • Responds to verbal inquiries from general public and facility staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Two years of professional experience in human resource administration.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title perform duties in an office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
