Pharmacy Operations Supervisor

Job Description:

• Oversee daily non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative tasks, ensuring effective workflow and an exceptional patient experience. The role also includes serving as a certified pharmacy technician.
• Manage pharmacy systems to access patient and medication information, processing prescriptions under a pharmacist's supervision, while supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers in line with compliance and ethical standards.
• Handle the selection, scheduling, and professional development of pharmacy technicians, including training, coaching, and performance evaluations, with authority over performance-related decisions.

Customer Experience

• Proactively engage with customers, addressing their needs and resolving inquiries to foster a positive experience. Display exemplary customer service and promote best practices among team members.
• Build strong relationships with customers by anticipating their needs and enhancing their pharmacy experiences through tailored healthcare services.

Operations

• Assist the pharmacist in patient care processes, including patient registration, prescription data entry, and medication preparation, while managing healthcare service offerings as permitted by law.
• Independently oversee non-clinical task delegation, ensuring timely completion and an efficient pharmacy workflow within company policies and regulations.
• Prepare and file necessary reports and records as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist to meet regulatory and company requirements.
• Drive pharmacy operational excellence by coordinating daily activities, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean and well-stocked environment.
• Support security measures and adhere to compliance protocols related to Good Faith Dispensing and pharmacy asset protection.
• Address prescription errors with accountability and communicate any issues back to the pharmacist while striving for continuous quality improvement.
• Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and collaborate with providers to resolve issues effectively.
• Assist in analyzing the pharmacy's financial performance and quality of operations to enhance customer service.
• Manage the Community Outreach Portal and coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events.

People & Performance Management

• Oversee pharmacy technician performance management processes, ensuring compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Be responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling pharmacy technicians while ensuring completion of timely training modules.
• Identify knowledge gaps among team members and support training needs to enhance overall pharmacy operations.
• Assist the Pharmacy Manager in ensuring all team members maintain active licensures and certifications as per regulations.
• Uphold recruitment and training procedures in line with company policies and legal guidelines.

Training & Personal Development

• Maintain required PTCB certification and engage in ongoing professional development relative to pharmacy and healthcare.
• Complete necessary education credits, certifications, and training modules to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Seek feedback on performance and utilize mentorship opportunities for self-improvement.

Communication

• Effectively communicate with pharmacy team members, ensuring clear relaying of important messages and updates.
• Participate in key meetings, including regular check-ins with the Store Manager.

External Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification required (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital environment.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Must obtain immunization certification within 90 days of hire (exceptions apply).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior people management or leadership experience.
• Experience with Walgreens and an exceeding expectation on the last performance evaluation.
