By joining our Office of Audits/IFTA branch as a Auditor I in Franklin County, you'll have the opportunity todevelop working knowledge and gain professional auditing skills. The IFTA section is responsible for auditingfuel tax returns for Kentucky based carriers. By joining the IFTA branch, you will be working alongside otherauditors to meet the goals of the section while serving the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Learns to prepare work papers; ensure they are complete and support audit findings, recommendations, andreports; and they are completed in an agreed upon manner.
- Conducts preliminary research to audit. Begins applying professional auditing standards, methods andprocedures to identify, analyze and make recommendations as required.
- Conducts fieldwork portion of audit with some assistance and examines documentation to ensure compliancewith federal and/or state policies and regulations.
- Develops a working knowledge of applicable federal and state policies and regulations and assists indevelopment of the audit program and audit report.
- Attends meetings and training sessions to develop and improve skills.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Initiative to be self-motivated, follow through with assigned tasks, and meet established timeframes.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
- The ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to accept peer and supervisor feedback, make unbiased decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree (which includes twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in accounting).
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Certification as Certified Public Accountant or as a Certified Internal Auditor will substitute for the required education.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title generally perform duties in an office setting. Frequent travel to audit sites required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
