Job Description

Position Overview

This position will implement appropriate technical services to ensure that client and project management needs are met. Position includes performing field and office tasks as well as providing project management support for a petroleum remediation project including operation of dual-pump liquid extraction recovery wells, two groundwater treatment systems, and a soil vapor extraction system in Brooklyn, NY.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in the environmental consulting industry with demonstrated progression in working with groundwater treatment systems and task management.
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems - coordination of tasks, budgeting, subcontractor management.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and managing the field implementation of common remedial technologies/approaches designed by Senior/Principal level professionals and supporting Senior/Principal level professionals with conceptual and detailed remedial design work.
  • Demonstrated task/project management skills.
  • Intermediate data evaluation and analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with common technical protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience and proficiency with control systems and system instrumentation, including PLC / SCADA programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
Essential Duties
  • Field Coordination and Management:
    • Set up work plans and protocols, supervise and/or implement field activities, coordinate additional field personnel as needed for the purpose of implementing technically sound project plans.
    • Work with Systems Operations Manager, Senior Engineers, and applicable vendors/subcontractors to troubleshoot and optimize treatment systems.
  • Technical Data Review and Report Preparation:
      • Coordinate the collection and review of project data. Adjust data collection protocols (e.g., frequency) based on client needs and project requirements. Interpret data, develop, and finalize reports for Project Manager's review that appropriately documents findings and project remediation recommendations and satisfies applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Project Management:
      • Ensure that individual task schedules and budgets are monitored and reviewed in compliance with Company standards and client requirements to complete project work.
  • Staff Mentoring and Training:
      • Participate in the development of junior staff and work with senior management to continue to grow as a consultant and leader of the firm.


Physical Demands/Work Environment Conditions

This position works in the field as well as the office environment, but at a dedicated facility in northern Brooklyn, NY. In the field, candidate will be working independently or leading a larger team at exterior project sites (i.e., industrial/commercial setting, treatment plants, recovery wells, NYC right-of ways, construction projects) to oversee and perform sample collection, recording of operational/meter parameters, and working with an existing team of environmental technicians. These field activities require the ability to drive to various components of the Brooklyn project and physically move around outdoors in various terrains, in adverse weather conditions and occasionally for extended or irregular hours. Conducting work involves the use of hand-held monitoring instruments and tools, as well as water sampling equipment, which requires the ability to routinely lift and carry objects, stand, walk, reach, bend, squat, kneel and twist. Office work is primarily stationary/sedentary using a computer and keyboard/mouse requiring repetitive hand movements.

Base Salary Range: $78,000 - $88,000. This salary range is based on what Roux in good faith believes it might pay at the time of posting for this position and for this geographic location. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as relevant work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications, skill sets, and internal equity. In addition, this position is eligible for performance bonuses based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
