Job Summary:
The CT Technician will operate CT scan equipment to create cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. This role involves performing a variety of CT scans, including abdomen, pelvis, chest, head, neck, spine, and musculoskeletal imaging, while adhering to radiation safety protocols. The technician will also be responsible for image post-processing, patient preparation, and starting peripheral IVs for contrast administration.
Location:Springfield, Illinois, United States
Responsibilities:
- Perform CT scans of the abdomen, pelvis, chest, head, neck, spine, and musculoskeletal system.
- Prepare and administer contrast media.
- Start peripheral IVs for contrast administration.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Utilize image display and post-processing techniques, including 3D rendering and multiplanar reconstruction.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and isolation precautions.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Answer phone calls and direct them accordingly.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- ARRT certification.
- ARRT-CT certification.
- BLS certification.
- Active state license.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CT Technician.
- Experience in adult acute care, adult outpatient, ICU, Emergency Department, and Level I Trauma settings.
- Proficiency in performing Abdomen and Pelvis CT scans (with and without contrast).
- Proficiency in performing Chest CT scans (with and without contrast, vascular chest).
- Proficiency in performing Head and Neck CT scans (Carotid, Head with and without contrast, Sinuses, Soft tissue neck, Trauma head).
- Proficiency in performing Spine and Musculoskeletal CT scans (Cervical, Lumbar, Musculoskeletal trauma, Thoracic).
- Experience with 3D rendering, multiplanar reconstruction, and region of interest measurement.
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and radiation safety.
- Ability to start peripheral IVs and perform venipuncture.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with Coronary CTA.
Special Considerations:
- On-call and holiday coverage required as needed (1 night of call per week).
- Time off requests to be discussed with manager.
- The facility may call off up to 36 hours per thirteen-week assignment without pay.
Scheduling:
- 4x10 Evenings (1200-2230).
- Every 3rd weekend required.
