Job Description

Job Summary: The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies for a Tier 1 automotive supplier. This role involves ensuring that all necessary materials and services are procured at the best possible cost, quality, and delivery terms. The MRO Buyer will collaborate with various departments to meet operational needs and support the smooth functioning of manufacturing and production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement and Sourcing:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers for MRO products and services.
  • Partner with corporate purchasing to negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely receipt of materials.
Supplier Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and performance standards.
  • Resolve any supplier-related issues that may arise.
Cost Management:
  • Continuously seek opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Conduct cost analyses and market research to support sourcing decisions.
Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and documentation.
  • Maintain integrity of the ERP system through managing open purchase orders and document control systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production departments to understand their MRO needs.
  • Provide timely updates on order status and any potential delays or issues.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Generate regular reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and inventory status.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the automotive industry. Experience with MRO purchasing is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Knowledge of MRO products and suppliers.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds.
