Job Description
The Utah Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking a skilled Desktop as a Service (DaaS) analyst to support, maintain, and optimize the State's virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments. The engineer will play a key role in delivering secure, reliable, and scalable virtual desktop solutions to state agencies and end users across Utah.
This position supports Citrix Workspaces hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon WorkSpaces hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring high availability, strong performance, and state-level security compliance. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional IT teams, project managers, cloud architects, security teams, and agency stakeholders.
This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and telework days, 2 days a week required in office and any mandatory in-office meetings. Health Insurance - Public Employee Health Program (PEHP):

The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is a division of the newly formed Department of Government Operations (DGO). DTS is responsible for providing IT services to state agencies (Department of Health, Workforce Services, Natural Resources, etc.). We offer a wide range of services, including Cloud and Datacenter Hosting, Networking, Desktop and Helpdesk Support, Enterprise Security, and business services. We offer myriad products across these services, such as data warehousing, business intelligence, desktop-as-a-service, e-mail, VoIP, etc. To learn more about The Division of Technology Services check us out . Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Design, deploy, and manage DaaS solutions to deliver virtual desktops to end-users, leveraging cloud-based infrastructure and virtualization technologies.
- Perform SysOps administration for virtual desktops, hosted applications, and backend infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and remediate issues.
- Implement and maintain security configurations, policies, and compliance requirements across cloud-hosted VDI environments.
- Troubleshoot end-user access issues, connectivity problems, and workspace performance concerns.
- Maintain Microsoft Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses (RDS CALs) on a Microsoft Licensing Server, optimizing license allocation, monitoring usage, and resolving licensing conflicts in a multi-tenant DaaS environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT support teams on DaaS-related issues and procedures.
- Collaborate with cloud engineering, networking, security, and agency IT teams to support operational needs and resolve incidents.
- Design, deploy, and enhance scalable DaaS solutions.
- Assist with automation, patch management, image management, and configuration updates.
- Document processes, configurations, and operational procedures for VDI systems.
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
- Experience administering Citrix Workspaces and Amazon WorkSpaces or other cloud-based virtual desktop platforms.
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS), including networking, permissions, and resource management.
- Strong understanding of VDI concepts, including profiles, policies, image management, and session management.
- An understanding of networking concepts, such as: firewall communication, source IP, destination IP, and port numbers.
- Troubleshooting skills across Windows desktop/server OS, cloud environments, networking, and virtualization layers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple IT teams and diverse state agencies.
- Strong documentation, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- 3+ years in an endpoint management role, or related experience.
- Citrix certifications (CCA-V, CCP-V).
- AWS or GCP certifications (Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, or equivalent).
- Experience with automation tools (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring solutions (Citrix Director, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Understanding of Zero Trust security principles and state or federal compliance standards.
- Experience with ServiceNow IT Service Management (ITSM) modules, including creating, managing, and resolving incidents, problems, and change requests.
- Employment contingent on passing a drug screening and a background check.
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- A hybrid of both in-office (2 days a week required in office and any mandatory in-office meetings) and remote work days (work must be performed in Utah) is available.
