We are looking for an Engineering Manager to spearhead our cloud initiatives for the United States Coast Guard at C5ISC located in Alexandria, VA. In this pivotal role, you will lead a talented team of engineers and architects who are essential in maintaining and enhancing the cloud infrastructure that powers vital Coast Guard operations, driving innovation that directly impacts national security.
This position is contingent upon a future contract award announcement.

We seek a highly capable Engineering Manager with expertise in AWS, Azure, and Python. You will manage a team of cloud architects, engineers, network engineers, and DevSecOps engineers while blending technical leadership with hands-on engineering support.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage personnel including hiring, monitoring coverage, and conducting performance evaluations while fostering employee development.
- Guide the development and maintenance of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
- Lead code reviews, track software changes, and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Coordinate technical efforts for system integration, testing, and customer requests related to software and operations.
- Contribute to systems documentation such as design documents and operational procedures.
- Oversee system health monitoring and troubleshooting while providing backup support for server, network, and automation issues.
- Mentor and supervise development teams on cloud-native application design and deployment.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their impact on organizational goals.
- Promote adoption of DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and automation frameworks.
- Lead large-scale cloud migration projects from planning through execution.
- Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies, including containerization and microservices.
- Develop methodologies for migration while minimizing organizational disruption.
- Facilitate customer onboarding to ensure a smooth pathway to cloud adoption.
- Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments.
- Design secure cloud architectures incorporating zero-trust principles.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and regulatory requirements.
- Implement identity and access management solutions and security monitoring frameworks.
- Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities in cloud settings.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Work with cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and product management.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years in a relevant IT field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems).
- 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
- Deep expertise in AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, Lambda) and Azure (e.g., Synapse, Data Factory).
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale data platform initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed computing frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust and DoD Secret Clearance.
- Clearance: This position requires the ability to attain a Public Trust, with acceptance of up to TS/SCI.
Certification Requirements:
Candidate must hold at least one of the following certifications:
- CEH, Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or equivalent.
- Preferred certifications include MCSE (Server), AWS Certified SyAdmin, AWS Certified Developer, or other applicable certifications.

Pay Range: $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
