Description:
  • Looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to manage the end-to-end application and system stack.
  • The role involves working with one of the leading financial services organizations in the US.
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a discipline that combines software and systems engineering for building and running large-scale, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems.
  • The goal of SRE is to ensure that internal and external services meet or exceed reliability and performance expectations.
  • SRE also follows an engineering approach to building and running production systems by creating solutions to operational problems.
  • SREs are responsible for overall system operations, utilizing a range of tools and approaches to solve complex problems.
  • Key practices include:
    • Minimizing operational workload through automation.
    • Blameless postmortems to improve learning from incidents.
    • Proactive identification and prevention of potential outages.
Responsibilities:

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will:
  • Engage in and improve the software development lifecycle, from inception and design to deployment, operation, and refinement.
  • Influence and design infrastructure, architecture, standards, and methods for large-scale systems.
  • Support services prior to production through:
    • Infrastructure design
    • Software platform development
    • Load testing
    • Capacity planning
    • Launch reviews
  • Maintain services during deployment and in production by:
    • Measuring and monitoring key performance and service level indicators (SLIs, SLOs, SLAs)
    • Ensuring availability, latency, and overall system health
  • Automate system scalability to continuously improve system resiliency, performance, and efficiency.
  • Practice sustainable incident response as part of an on-call rotation and conduct blameless postmortems.
  • Remediate issues using sustainable, preventative, and automated measures whenever possible.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (Physics, Mathematics, etc.), or equivalent job experience.
  • 8+ years of experience developing and/or administering software in Windows with .NET applications.
  • Experience in monitoring infrastructure and application uptime and availability to meet functional and performance objectives.
  • Experience with programming languages such as:
    • .NET
    • Python
    • Ruby
    • Bash
    • Java
    • Go
    • Perl
    • JavaScript / Node.js
  • Strong cross-functional knowledge in:
    • Systems
    • Storage
    • Networking
    • Security
    • Databases
  • Experience with system administration including:
    • Automation and orchestration using tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack.
    • Containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • System problem-solving mindset with strong communication skills, ownership, and drive.
  • Experience managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Passion for automation with a desire to eliminate manual work whenever possible.
  • Experience in highly secure, regulated, or compliant industries.
  • Understanding of DevOps culture and collaboration within a DevOps team.
