Position Summary: The Intermediate HVAC Technician performs critical functions such as installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role requires proficiency in HVAC systems, troubleshooting, and the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in various settings to ensure their efficient operation.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve HVAC system issues, including electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Conduct testing, calibration, and adjustments of systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Document installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and team members on complex tasks, offering guidance to junior technicians as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.

Working Relationships: Collaborate with external service vendors and internal team members such as FSS Field Service Technicians, Construction Project Managers, and Store Personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required. Preferred: Formal HVAC/R training program.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of HVAC/R experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Universal EPA Certification required; State Journeyman preferred.

Preferred Soft Skills:

  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Manage stress and respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using HVAC diagnostic tools and reading schematics.

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel: Willingness to travel 50% of the time with a clean driving record.
  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Must be available for on-call and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly; up to 25 pounds frequently; and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
  • Physically capable of standing/walking for 8 hours, reaching, bending, squatting, and working in cooler/freezer environments.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment.
