Business Systems Analyst (Financial Services)

Position overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions, leveraging a strong data analysis background to drive key decisions and system enhancements. This role requires excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude toward problem-solving, and a high degree of accountability.

Key responsibilities

  • Requirements analysis and documentation: Collaborate with business stakeholders across finance, risk, and operations to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Data discovery and analysis: Conduct in-depth data discovery to understand data flows, identify key trends, and validate data integrity. Use insights to support business objectives and pinpoint opportunities for process improvement.
  • SQL expertise: Write and execute basic to intermediate SQL queries to extract, analyze, and manipulate data for reporting, troubleshooting, and ad-hoc requests.
  • Data integrity and accountability: Take ownership of data quality issues by investigating root causes and collaborating with technical teams to implement and track solutions.
  • Analytical problem-solving: Apply strong analytical skills to evaluate complex business challenges and identify effective, data-driven solutions.
  • Communication and stakeholder management: Act as a key liaison between business and IT teams. Clearly and concisely communicate technical specifications, project status, and data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Process improvement: Analyze existing business systems and workflows to identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements, and develop detailed specifications for enhancements.
  • Testing and support: Participate in the testing of new or enhanced system functionalities, ensuring they align with business requirements. Provide ongoing support for system issues, and escalate as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Financial industry experience: Demonstrated experience working in the financial services sector is required.
  • Data analysis background: Proven track record in a data analyst role, including hands-on experience with data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in writing SQL queries is essential. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Soft skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Accountability: A demonstrated history of taking ownership of tasks and projects from inception to completion.
  • Problem-solving: A very strong analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex business problems.
