A leading federal agency is seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Automation Tester to support mission-critical applications across a complex and fast-paced technology environment. The ideal candidate will be an expert in automation, quality assurance methodologies, and modern testing frameworks-with the ability to lead, design, and execute scalable test solutions. This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within Agile teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to testing efforts within an Agile/Scrum software development environment.
  • Design, develop, and enhance UI automation frameworks to support complex and highly integrated applications.
  • Implement and maintain Selenium BDD frameworks, writing robust automation code in Core Java.
  • Develop automated tests for business and data layer applications, ensuring full coverage across critical workflows.
  • Build mature automated frameworks supporting end-to-end scenario validation for interconnected systems.
  • Perform smoke, regression, UAT, and end-to-end testing as part of the continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Conduct REST API testing, including validation of request/response payloads and service-level behaviors.
  • Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate backend processes and data integrity.
  • Execute test plans, scripts, cases, and scenarios to ensure system functionality meets requirements.
  • Log and track defects in JIRA, collaborating with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Conduct functional, non-functional, system integration, and regression testing across multiple environments.
  • Use API testing tools such as Postman and monitoring systems such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • Provide clear, concise, and proactive communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in QA automation with a focus on modern frameworks and Agile approaches.
  • Strong proficiency in Core Java and hands-on experience with Selenium (including BDD implementations).
  • Demonstrated experience designing automation frameworks for complex systems.
  • Expertise testing REST APIs, backend services, and database-driven applications.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of backend system architecture.
  • Experience with JIRA, Postman, Datadog, Splunk, or similar tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with teammates and contribute to a high-performing Agile environment.
