Description

About the Role:
Matrix Contracting Services is seeking a skilled and driven Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and taking ownership of their work. You'll play a key role in evaluating project opportunities, defining scope, and ensuring accurate, competitive pricing - all while building trusted relationships across clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

What You'll Do:

  • Qualify new project opportunities and define detailed scopes of work through site visits, plan reviews, and vendor coordination.
  • Prepare accurate take-offs, cost estimates, and supporting documentation for proposals.
  • Read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings to inform project pricing.
  • Lead vendor and subcontractor site walks, negotiations, and pricing discussions.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Operations to align project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams and clients.
  • Build and expand a reliable network of vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality work.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings to ensure seamless project transitions.

Requirements

What You Bring:
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in the construction industry (multi-family preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of price negotiation, vendor relationships, and market costs.
  • Basic understanding of both interior and exterior construction scopes.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Independent thinker who's also a proactive problem solver and team collaborator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Xactimate or Sage experience a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel 30-40% for project opportunities.


Salary Description

$75000-90000 plus incentive structure
