Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Shift: Day Shift
Location: Rio Rancho, NM
Position Overview

A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is needed for a contract role within a skilled nursing and rehabilitation setting. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. This role requires clinical expertise, strong documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct evaluations to diagnose speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on resident needs.
  • Provide direct therapy to improve communication and swallowing functions.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in accordance with facility standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and medical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on therapy goals and techniques.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary discussions.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, clinical standards, and ethical practices.
  • Use clinical judgment to determine appropriate therapy modalities and interventions.
  • Support facility initiatives, quality improvement programs, and resident-centered care practices.
Requirements
  • Active and unrestricted SLP license (eligible for New Mexico practice).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred; CFY may be considered based on facility needs.
  • Experience in skilled nursing, rehab, or geriatric populations preferred.
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
