Realize Your Vision as a New Registered Nurse

  • Assist patients with daily activities as delegated by the rehabilitation team.
  • Communicate patient concerns and changes in condition to rehabilitation nurses or therapists.
  • Document appropriate patient information in their medical records.
  • Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic medical record.
  • Perform special procedures including collecting urine, stool, and sputum.
  • Review treatments/adult daily living skills/hygiene with patients and families.
  • Assist patients with feeding and attend Therapeutic Dining Group as indicated.
  • Support patients with body mechanics.
  • Help maintain a clean and healthy environment for the patient.
  • Assist with equipment care.

Qualifications

  • BLS (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Active part-time or full-time student status.
  • Successful completion of the first term of nursing courses in a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
  • Currently enrolled and in good academic standing in a professional Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
  • Initial term must include fundamentals of nursing or an equivalent course.
  • Provide one or two instructor evaluations indicating satisfactory performance of fundamental nursing skills, if available.
  • Complete preceptor tool and core competency at 90 days and annually.
  • Must show proof of continued enrollment and passing grades in nursing classes each semester until graduation and remain in good academic standing.
  • One year of experience in an inpatient clinical setting preferred.
