Meet the team:

The Embedded Software team is responsible for developing the hardware drivers, sensor streaming, hardware safety monitoring, and vehicle interfaces for the autonomy system. As a Camera ISP software engineer on the sensor team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of the ISP software algorithms, ISP integration and Image quality for the camera sensing system. We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with strong C++ expertise to work on Camera ISP (Image Signal Processing) systems. This role sits at the intersection of software, imaging algorithms and camera hardware.

What you'll do:

  • Develop C++ components for ISP control/configuration and data flow management
  • Integrate and maintain vendor ISP libraries into the camera software stack
  • Drive system-level design decisions balancing image quality, performance and latency
  • Work with ISP algorithms such as - Auto Exposure(AE), Auto White Balance (AWB), Noise reduction, HDR and tone mapping
  • Establish best practices for ISP bring-up, tuning integration, Image quality debugging and ISP tuning validation and tuning releases
  • Develop optimal imager register settings to balance image quality and pipeline needs by working closely with the imager vendor
  • Debug image quality issues using raw frames, ISP statistics and camera pipeline logs
  • Strategize ISP roadmap by collaborating closely with Camera Hardware team, Imager Vendor, SoC Vendor and external ISP vendors
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience (or Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant experience)
  • Strong C++ experience in modern C++ with development of embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of Camera ISP concepts, imaging pipelines and hardware accelerators (ISP, GPU etc).
  • Strong knowledge of camera hardware including - Image Sensors, ISP hardware blocks and SoC architecture.
  • Familiarity with low-level debugging including registers, memory and timing issues.
  • Experience with Linux or Embedded OS camera stacks
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Automotive specific camera sensors and SoCs
  • Familiarity with MIPI CSI-2 / C-PHY/ D-PHY, Camera frameworks (OpenVx), Image quality tuning processes and image quality validation workflows

The expected base salary range for this full-time position in California is $218,240 - $327,360 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Latitude employees are also eligible to participate in Latitude's annual bonus programs, equity compensation, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
