Join our dynamic team as a Software Engineering Manager, where you will provide leadership and oversight to our talented Software Engineering group. In this role, you will guide efforts to apply the principles of secure software engineering throughout the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of software and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional leaders to understand business requirements and evaluate various technology approaches, ensuring our software and systems are built to meet these needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing Software Engineering processes and teams to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Providing direction in the planning and delivery of product/solution releases.
  • Ensuring delivery of secure, high-quality, well-tested, and scalable software that aligns with customer and business requirements.
  • Prioritizing and maintaining a healthy KTLO (Keep The Lights On) roadmap to sustain the security and stability of our products.
  • Collaborating closely with leaders in Product, UX, Architecture, Analytics, and Agile Delivery teams.
  • Further assisting in the maintenance and prioritization of the product backlog.
  • Engaging actively with customers, end-users, and business partners to address and resolve software development and deployment issues in a timely manner.
  • Advocating for secure coding practices and rigorous testing protocols.
  • Setting teams up for success through clear guidance and resource allocation.
  • Providing timely feedback, both positive and constructive, to team members.
  • Overseeing career progression for team members, encompassing hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Fostering a culture of teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Championing good engineering practices and high-quality standards.
  • Effectively staffing and developing teams while refining processes necessary to sustain a high-performance environment.
  • Partnering with leadership on large-scale initiatives across the organization.

Expectations for the Software Engineering Manager include:

  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance in design patterns, code quality, and career development, supporting junior engineers in their growth.
  • Ownership & Initiative: Manage features and systems with full accountability; proactively resolve issues and conduct thorough code reviews.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of advancements in cloud computing, DevOps, AI, and software best practices.
  • Adaptability: Navigate dynamic environments and adjust to shifting priorities effortlessly.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Clearly convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Decision-Making: Influence architectural decisions and contribute to long-term technical strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 6+ years of experience, OR a master's degree with 4+ years of experience, OR a Ph.D. with up to 1 year of experience, OR 18 years of directly relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of management or lead experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience designing and developing applications in Java.
  • 4+ years of building and deploying applications in a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
  • 4+ years of middleware/backend/API development experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AI technologies or a strong interest in integrating AI into development processes.
  • Development skills in Python and/or React.js.
  • Expertise in AWS with relevant certifications (Developer, Solutions Architect, or DevOps).
  • Significant involvement in large-scale technical projects.

Compensation includes a base salary ranging from $119,600.00 to $199,400.00 per year, which may vary based on factors such as location and candidate experience. Additional compensation opportunities may be available, including an incentive program.

We offer flexible vacation time, paid holidays, and up to 160 hours of paid wellness leave annually, alongside other forms of paid time off, including bereavement leave, time off for voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military leave, and parental leave.
