The Professional Division of Spherion Mid-Ohio is partnering with a longstanding Manufacturing Client located in Ashland, OH in search of a Maintenance Engineer Technician to join our client's team
This is a direct-hire 2nd or 3rd Shift opportunity that will pay up to $40/hr. and includes excellent benefits starting on day one. Play a key role in supporting a long-standing manufacturer with global stability and local growth by being the crucial technical expert for new, advanced machinery and robotics.

The Maintenance Engineer Technician is an elevated technical role focused on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations by maintaining and troubleshooting advanced production equipment, including automated systems and robotics. This new position is key to upgrading the company's maintenance skill set to handle incoming new technology.

Job Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated systems, utilizing PLCs, ladder logic, and HMIs to resolve faults.
  • Maintain and support automated production equipment such as robotics, conveyors, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Maintain air compressors, lighting, and water systems, while also conducting regular facility inspections.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on heading, threading, painting, packaging, and automation equipment.
  • Assist with equipment setup, installation, commissioning, and upgrades, following schematics and technical manuals.
  • Support alignment and tooling adjustments during changeovers, and provide operator assistance throughout production runs.
  • Accurately complete work orders, downtime logs, and maintenance records, and communicate repair timelines with production leads.
  • Monitor tool and parts usage, proactively requesting reorders to prevent downtime.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams, and train operators in basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Engage in root cause analysis and contribute to ongoing equipment performance enhancements.
  • Work independently without direct supervision, especially on back shifts, demonstrating a high level of maturity and the ability to understand priorities.
  • Adhere to OSHA standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies, while actively participating in safety programs, audits, and corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance
  • Strong Electrical Background is required, experience with Control Voltage, HMIs, 24V, and DC Voltage.
  • Proficiency with PLCs, ladder logic, and electrical/control system troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and robotic systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate well, be proactive, demonstrate consistent drive and motivation
