SUMMARY

The Controller/ FP&A Manager serves as a strategic leader, overseeing all aspects of the organization's accounting and financial planning functions. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence within the Accounting and Finance Department, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, timeliness, and productivity. In partnership with executive leadership, the Senior Controller provides forward-looking financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic insights to support informed decision-making, optimize performance, and strengthen the organization's overall financial health and long-term growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinating and preparing financial statements
  • Coordinating activities of internal teams with external auditors
  • Interfaces with clients and Client Services department regarding invoice processing
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Prepare the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff in conjunction with Chief Financial Officer
  • Prepare and assist in the development and management of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Consolidate departmental budgets and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
  • Prepare and monitor budget variances and work with department heads to explain discrepancies.
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses on revenue, expenses, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, highlighting key metrics and KPIs.
  • Prepare and develop rolling forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Model different business scenarios and sensitivity analyses.
  • Update financial projections based on actual performance and market changes.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and board meetings.
  • Provide insights and commentary on business performance versus plan.
  • Support executive leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan).
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Operations teams to streamline reporting processes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Shared responsibility for the management of select employees in the Accounting Department and with the performance management of same. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Expertise with Intacct ERP systems
  • Expertise with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and meet deadlines under pressure.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or public administration, or a related field is required; and/or seven years of relevant experience, with at least three years in management capacity.
• CPA/MBA Preferred
• Must have proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• 5-7 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or management consulting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and sales tax.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
