Join our dynamic OR team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Wisconsin's largest hospital and renowned healthcare provider. As a valued team member, your expertise and attention to detail in the Operating Room will make a significant impact on patient outcomes.

Schedule Details:
Full-time evening shifts (8 or 10 hours) with Monday to Friday scheduling, including on-call responsibilities primarily overnight (5-8 shifts) and 1-2 weekends in an 8-week cycle. On-call hours may vary based on staffing needs, requiring a 30-minute response time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a sterile, organized, and safe environment for optimal patient care.
  • Prepare surgical materials, instruments, and equipment for procedures, adhering to aseptic techniques.
  • Ensure the operating room is set up properly for each case, managing equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Assist with patient transport and positioning while utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Act as a Second Assistant during surgeries when required.
  • Monitor and report any equipment or supply issues.
  • Continuously check the availability and condition of specialty carts and items.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of age-appropriate care across the lifespan.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • No prior experience is necessary; a willingness to learn and grow is essential.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room procedures.
  • Proficiency in using various operating room equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Capacity to lift and carry weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform movements such as lifting, standing, and bending frequently during shifts.
  • Exposure to potential hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biological materials, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment.
