Job Summary
This leadership role is pivotal in managing the overall operations and fiscal strategy of the revenue cycle for our acute care, post-acute care, and outpatient facilities within the healthcare system. You will take charge of the administrative and technical aspects of operations, designing and implementing efficient systems, processes, and procedures that ensure accurate and timely management of Accounts Receivable, including billing, collections, denial management, underpayments, cash management, credit balances, and vendor oversight. You will set productivity and quality standards for the department and cultivate a culture of compliance and integrity throughout our multi-facility healthcare system, reporting directly to a Revenue Cycle Management executive.
Desired Skill Sets:
- 5-10 years of experience in hospital systems and accounts receivable vendor management.
- 5 years of management experience is essential.
- Proficiency with Epic software is required.
- A comprehensive background in accounts receivable revenue cycle management.
- Experience in managing accounts receivable vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: None required.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Ten years of experience in hospital/healthcare business office or financial management, with at least five years in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated growth potential and ability to inspire, develop, and mentor a team.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to assess information and evaluate recommendations based on data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for interactions with physicians, payer representatives, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Expertise in compliance with regulatory guidelines, including CMS, DHS, FDCPA, EMTALA, and NCCI Coding Guidelines to assure lawful billing and collections.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Provide strategic guidance for financial services across the system, fostering a strong financial services culture.
- Lead large teams in Revenue Cycle Services including Billing, Collections, Denials, and more, with oversight of up to 17 Acute Care and 163 Outpatient Facilities as well as over 300 physicians.
- Develop comprehensive operational plans that align with both departmental and organizational objectives, contributing to net revenue improvement while overseeing considerable accounts receivable and annual collections.
- Analyze and create strategic initiatives to ensure financial services are effective and progressive, collaborating with other departments to maintain consistency in processes.
- Lead the revenue cycle management team in the analysis of operational performance through ongoing trend analysis and financial reporting.
- Manage change effectively, guiding staff through transitions while building team dynamics.
- Oversee a team of 35 to 55 staff members, including all human resource functions, such as hiring and performance evaluation.
- Create performance metrics and goals, producing sustainable outcomes.
- Utilize an analytical approach to problem-solving, leveraging data-driven insights for informed decision-making.
- Ensure revenue and expenses meet budgetary expectations while accurately forecasting and managing financial outcomes.
- Support team interactions with a range of multidisciplinary groups including Revenue Integrity, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Physician departments.
- Communicate effectively with all management levels and take an active role in committees and performance management initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with medical staff and senior management, serving as an advisor on revenue cycle operations and regulatory compliance.
- Stride towards safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all organizational policies and standards, including those related to budgeting and resource management.
- Encourage professional growth and development among team members, supporting continuing education and serving as a mentor.
- Demonstrate a commitment to caring for every member of our community by crafting compassionate and personalized experiences.
