Per Diem Speech-Language Therapist

Compensation: Flat rate of $55-$60 based on experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Join our dynamic team as a Per Diem Speech-Language Therapist In this role, you'll evaluate patients and implement tailored treatments to enhance or restore their speech and language functions. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for community education and contribute to the clinical education of students. This position may involve coverage across multiple sites.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Master's degree from an accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Current license for Speech-Language Pathology in Connecticut.
- Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic personal computer skills, including proficiency with Windows-based programs like Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Reliable transportation for travel between various work sites is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform patient evaluations following departmental standards.
- Adapt evaluations based on patient symptoms and medical status, setting individualized, measurable goals.
- Apply effective therapeutic techniques tailored to each patient's needs.
- Administer physical agents and manual therapeutic techniques to achieve treatment goals.
- Utilize strategies to optimize speech and language functioning.
- Guide patients and families on home exercise programs for maximum functionality.
- Assess when patients have achieved optimal outcomes and recommend discharge as appropriate.
- Document patient progress according to insurance guidelines and departmental policies.
- Facilitate open communication with referring physicians regarding patient care.
- Submit charges accurately and consistently on a daily basis.
- Adhere to the professional code of ethics established by ASHA and the facility.
- Maintain proper body mechanics and safety to prevent injuries while performing duties.
- Supervise at least one affiliated student each year.
- Attend continuing education courses to enhance treatment skills.
- Participate in departmental or community educational in-services, documenting participation.
