In this dynamic position, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers, adeptly handling service intake and communication, while also applying your mechanical skills to perform hands-on repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Service Writer Duties:
- Greet customers, actively listen to their vehicle concerns, and diagnose issues through thoughtful questioning.
- Convert customer descriptions into precise and detailed repair orders.
- Provide transparent cost estimates and obtain customer approval before proceeding with repairs.
- Maintain ongoing communication with customers throughout the repair process, offering updates and clarifying repair details.
- Process invoices and manage warranty paperwork efficiently.
- Schedule service appointments and optimize shop workflow for maximum efficiency.
- Coach and mentor mechanics and technicians for continued development.
- Diesel Mechanic Duties:
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues in diesel engines, transmissions, and systems.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections using a detailed checklist to evaluate critical components.
- Carry out preventative maintenance, including fluid checks and oil changes.
- Repair or replace defective parts such as engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Execute welding and driveline repairs, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Test-drive vehicles post-repair to ensure proper functionality.
Candidates Should Have:
- A strong understanding of service operations within the heavy-duty truck industry.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or technician in the heavy-duty sector.
- Effective communication skills to relay technical information to customers in an understandable manner.
- Proficiency in diagnostic software, shop management systems, and office software tools.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain relevant certifications and a CDL Class A or Class B at company expense.
- Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is preferred.
- A degree or certification in diesel technology or a related field is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
This position entails physical demands including lifting heavy parts (50+ lbs), and performing various physical tasks such as walking, bending, twisting, and reaching throughout the workday.
Work Environment:
Associates will be exposed to typical shop conditions, including dirt, dust, fumes, and noise, while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a clean work environment.
