Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, independently analyzes blueprints, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects. Provides guidance, training, and direction for less experienced estimating staff.

What You Will Do
    • Produce precise electrical estimates for various project types, including large commercial, industrial, high-tech, vertical high rise, and health care facilities.
    • Work independently and manage Jr. Estimators, assigning tasks, providing direction, giving timelines, and reviewing for accuracy and completion.
    • Read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, tele data, security, fire alarm, audio visual plans, and specifications as they relate to the electrical work.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of, and clearly communicate, estimated scope of work.
    • Develop project take-offs and equipment counts based upon the specifications and drawings.
    • Utilize technology such as BlueBeam, Accubid and LiveCount to perform and document electrical budgets.
    • Utilize understanding of basic circuitry and wiring methods for electrical systems.
    • Provide support and training of estimating processes, procedures and systems for junior estimators, interns, and other team members as necessary.
    • Contribute to and support value engineering exercises.
    • Create scope letter content and OneNote required documentation, qualifications, and exclusions.
    • Participate in Estimating team and review meetings and clearly define your estimate work product.
    • Prepare detailed electrical estimates based on limited design information and/or narratives.
    • Adhere to the PRIME Safety Program, complying with safety regulations, procedures and safe work practices.
    • Maintain a physical presence onsite and provide assistance to specific groups, managers and project management teams as needed.
    • Performs other duties as requested; duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
What You Will Need to be Successful
    • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience evaluating and estimating design/build contract work
    • Ability to review BOM of subcontractors, suppliers, and material quotes; determine completeness and compliance with bid documents; and make appropriate recommendations
    • Ability to train and educate others on estimating procedures and software
    • Ability to quickly evaluate and estimate VE solutions.
    • Advanced knowledge of structural, architectural and mechanical documents and their impact on electrical scope.
    • Advanced Knowledge of NEC, local codes and construction methods.
    • Advanced Knowledge of Electrical Materials and their applications.
    • Knowledge of and experience with Accubid and LiveCount.
    • Strong organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking and communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with preparing, completing, explaining, and reviewing complex estimates with Chief Estimator, Internal, and External Customers.
    • Experience with delivery models: Plan & Spec, Design-Assist, and Design-Build.
    • Ability to grasp and follow existing estimating process and procedures.
    • Experience with the appropriate application of a wide variety of electrical materials and methods of installation as it relates to database materials and assemblies to individual estimates.
    • Strong work ethic.


$140,000 - $170,000 a year

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise or coordinate the work of others who assist in specific assignments.

Special Requirements/Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in an office setting with minimal health or safety hazards. Noise level and temperature is moderate. Minimal lifting or climbing. This position is expected to be fully in-person, onsite, with some travel not limited to, other offices, work sites and local business errands. Requires operating office machines such as, but not limited to, computers, copiers, scanners, and phones.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as submittals, operations manuals and project schedules. Ability to write routine correspondence such as letters and memos. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and/or external clients of the firm. Communicate clearly and effectively with project managers, team members, and stakeholders to support project execution.
