Join Our Team At CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital, we are seeking a dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist to be an essential part of our general surgery team. This modern facility is recognized as a leader in acute care and offers a wide range of specialized services.
Position Overview: As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients and ensuring the surgical environment is sterile and safe. You will work directly under the guidance of professional nurses and surgeons, making a positive impact on patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the Operating Room and patient skin for surgery, maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to pre-operative patients, respecting their privacy and care needs.
- Assist with patient transport and positioning based on surgical requirements.
- Identify and handle biological specimens with care and precision.
- Set up surgical tables, instruments, and supplies according to specific case requirements.
- Scrub in for surgeries across multiple specialties, ensuring optimal support for the surgical team.
- Maintain surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Practice effective communication and teamwork to enhance patient care delivery.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- BLS certification is required.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist must be obtained within 180 days of graduation, or possess a valid LVN/LPN License.
