We are seeking a Jr Java Software Engineer to join our client Papa John's development team. The candidate will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade microservices applications using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot. This role requires hands-on coding experience, strong problem-solving skills, and familiarity with modern software development practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop scalable enterprise applications using Java 17/21 with functional programming features (Streams, Lambdas, Optional, etc.)
- Build and maintain Spring Boot microservices within a distributed system
- Design, implement, and consume RESTful APIs
- Work with Apache Kafka for message streaming, producers, and consumers
- Write and execute unit tests using JUnit or equivalent frameworks
- Perform PostgreSQL database operations, including queries, indexing, performance tuning, and stored procedures
- Implement API security, exception handling, logging, and performance optimization best practices
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams, participate in code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration
- Gain familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker/Kubernetes
