Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a professional member of the R&D team responsible for design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components in support of new product development and the improvement of existing products. This fully experienced engineer brings strong analytical skills and problem solving capabilities to the team.
- Perform mechanical design activities of moderate complexity under minimal guidance.
- Leads cross functional product development projects of minimal to moderate complexity
- Develop and execute engineering studies and analysis of problems of moderate complexity utilizing the appropriate tools and methods (DOE, Minitab, FEA, Mold flow, thermal analysis, etc.)
- Lead risk management activities.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with Quality System procedures and company policies
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical degree) with 5+ years of related experience; or a Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience; or a PhD with 2+ years of related experience.
- Experienced in the process of design, rapid prototyping, construction, test, and analysis of complex components or subsystems.
- Demonstrated skill in analyzing and solving complex problems and troubleshooting system issues of a complex nauture.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the product development process and design control activities in a regulated industry.
- Ability to utilize Design of Experiments to resolve complex problems
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management processes and practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency in design for manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability (DFx).
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to safely move up to 25 lbs
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
- Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Compensation and Benefits:
We pay competitively. The base salary/hourly rate range for this position is $114,000 - $142,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional compensation such as annual or commission bonuses may be available.
Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, life, disability, 401(k), CA paid sick leave, and paid time off. Additional company-sponsored benefits, such as parental wage replacement and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), will be discussed upon hire.
