Description

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and safety of all parish buildings and grounds. This includes both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, working closely with staff and outside contractors to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment for parishioners, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems.
  • Inspect parish property regularly and respond to repair requests in a timely manner.
  • Set up and take down for events (tables, chairs, sound equipment, etc.).
  • Assist with snow removal, lawn care, and basic landscaping tasks.
  • Paint and perform minor carpentry or drywall repairs as needed.
  • Maintain parish equipment and tools; report needs for replacement or servicing.
  • Monitor and maintain supply inventory for maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or inspections.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and Archdiocesan policies.
  • Support implementation of Safe Environment protocols in facility areas.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in general building maintenance or a skilled trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs independently.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Good communication and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with Catholic parish environments and respect for sacred spaces.
