Victim Service Advocate

The Victim Service Advocate provides trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by gun violence. They respond to incidents, help navigate crisis services, and assist with victim compensation, funeral planning, and ongoing emotional support.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to non-fatal and fatal violence incidents in hospitals, homes, or scenes.
- Offer emotional support, advocacy, and safety planning.
- Help with victim compensation, benefits, relocation, and medical care.
- Provide referrals to counseling and trauma-informed services.
- Conduct support groups and accompany families to court or legal appointments.
- Maintain a caseload of up to 25 participants.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate or bachelor's degree in social services or relevant experience.
Experience: Six months to a year working with victims of violence or trauma survivors.
Skills:
- Ability to respond compassionately in crises.
- Knowledge of local resources and support services.
- Strong documentation and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Trauma-informed and culturally competent approach.
Location:
In-person in IL. Illinois resident candidates only.

Pay Range: $62,000 per year
