Role: Technical Project Manager - System Performance and Communications
Location: Spring, Texas
Job Summary -
We are looking for an experienced Manager to serve as the Feature Funnel Owner for System Performance & Communications for one of marquee customers. This role will lead the end-to-end development of features related to system performance optimization, communications/connectivity, and thermal management. In addition to core funnel management duties, you will lead a dedicated QA team for your modules, ensuring that all performance and connectivity features are thoroughly validated and meet the highest quality standards before release. This is a strategic role that balances technical acumen with leadership, ensuring products deliver exceptional performance and reliability.

Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of PC system architecture, including CPU, memory, thermal systems, and networking components.
- Familiarity with BIOS/firmware interactions and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with wireless connectivity standards (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and thermal management technologies.
- Knowledge of benchmarking tools and performance metrics.
- Strong grasp of QA methodologies, including functional, performance, stress, and compatibility testing.
- Ability to define and enforce quality standards across system performance and connectivity features.
- Experience managing QA teams and interpreting validation results to drive improvements.
- Skilled in creating and managing feature development timelines and aligning them with platform schedules.
- Proficient in milestone planning (design, prototype, testing) and resource coordination.
- Experience with agile development and iterative delivery models.
- Ability to coordinate across hardware, software, firmware, QA, and external vendors.
- Skilled in managing dependencies and facilitating cross-team alignment for feature delivery.
- Strong capability in tracking progress, identifying blockers, and implementing recovery plans.
- Experience in overseeing development and validation phases to ensure feature readiness.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting updates, demos, and risk assessments.
- Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and project status to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience hosting review meetings and acting as the primary liaison for module-specific features.
- Proficient in maintaining detailed documentation of feature requirements, design decisions, and test outcomes.
- Skilled in preparing status reports and risk assessments for leadership and program forums.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in product development, system architecture, or technical program management. Significant experience with PC performance tuning, hardware/software integration, or connectivity (network/communication) projects is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in managing or collaborating with QA teams. Solid understanding of QA processes, test plan creation, and quality metrics.
- Deep understanding of PC system architecture - including processors, thermal dynamics, memory, and networking components. Familiarity with performance benchmarking tools, BIOS/firmware interactions, and thermal design considerations in laptops/desktops.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional initiatives. Comfortable coordinating across firmware engineers, software developers, test engineers, and vendors. Experience working with external hardware/component vendors is a plus.
- Strong skills in project planning and agile methodologies. Able to break down complex projects into deliverables, estimate schedules, and manage execution in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, especially in performance optimization (identifying bottlenecks, analyzing system logs/metrics) and in troubleshooting connectivity issues. Data-driven mindset to define and measure feature success.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities. Capable of distilling technical information into clear updates. Experience presenting project status and technical concepts to senior leadership and obtaining buy-in.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and work well under pressure. Enthusiasm for driving high-performance, reliable systems.
- Maintain thorough documentation for each feature - including requirements definitions, design decisions, change logs, and test results. Provide regular status reports and risk assessments to leadership, ensuring transparency into feature progress and any issues that might impact timelines or quality.
- Experience with project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, MS Project, etc.).
